★★★★★Google review “He was very friendly and informative along with his staff. Answered all the questions and concerns I had.”
Gabby ImbrognoIt depends on where your HOA’s master policy stops. Some stop at the bare walls. Others include the original cabinets and fixtures but not your upgrades.
A condo policy can help with the part your HOA leaves to you, depending on its terms, limits and exclusions. Our agents read the master policy summary with you, then quote walls-in coverage for that part.
A supply line under your kitchen sink bursts while you’re at work. Water ruins your floors and drips into the unit below. Depending on your HOA’s policy, the floors, the cabinets and your neighbor’s ceiling may all be yours to pay for. Walls-in and liability coverage can help in a case like this, subject to your policy’s terms, limits and exclusions.
“He sat down with me and explained all of the different options I had.”Jeff Heskett, Google reviewOne short call gets you real numbers. Have your HOA’s master policy summary nearby too, or email us a copy of both.
How condo coverage works
Here’s what each policy is written for.
Your HOA’s master policy
Your HOA or property manager can send you a summary.
Your condo policy
Can help repair floors, cabinets, fixtures and the upgrades you’ve made.
Can help replace furniture, clothes, electronics and other things you own.
Can help if a guest is hurt in your unit, or a leak from your unit damages a neighbor’s.
Can help pay your share when the HOA bills owners for a big shared loss.

Your HOA’s master policy is written for the building and the shared areas, like the roof, hallways and pool. A condo policy is written for the part the master policy leaves to you. Where that line falls differs from one HOA to the next, so we read the master policy with you.
How do I find out what my HOA’s master policy covers?Ask your HOA or property manager for a summary of the master policy. Your HOA’s CC&Rs (its covenants, conditions and restrictions) also spell out who is responsible for what. Send us what you have and we’ll read it with you.
What is loss assessment coverage? When the HOA has a big shared loss and its own policy doesn’t pay all of it, the association can bill each owner a share. Loss assessment coverage can help pay your share, up to your limit. We’ll look at your HOA’s deductible with you before you choose that limit.
I rent my condo out. Is this the right policy?Maybe not. A unit you rent out usually needs different coverage than one you live in. See landlord insurance, or call (480) 545-8877 and we’ll tell you whether your unit needs a condo or a landlord policy.
Can I bundle my condo and my car?Yes. KGB Insurance can quote your condo and auto policies together, and one team answers questions on both. See how bundling works.
I’m buying a condo. When should I start my quote? As soon as you have a closing date, since lenders usually ask for proof of insurance before you close. Start the quote form, and tell us your closing date when we call. Once you buy your policy, we send the proof of insurance to your lender.
